Transfer of Nagpur Airport to the Govt. of Maharashtra/ Approval from
Ministry of Civil Aviation, Govt. of India:
Airport Authority of India & Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India and Maharashtra Airport Development Company Limited, Government of Maharashtra (GoM) have signed an Memorandum of Understanding on 18th December 2006 to transfer the Nagpur Airport including all its asset but excluding ATC and RNS to a Joint Venture Company with MADC holding 51% stake in it whereas AAI will hold
49% stake within six months i.e. by 17th June 2007.
Transfer of land of Indian Air-Force of their Gajraj project for MIHAN project/ Approval from the Ministry of Defence/IAF: A meeting was held on 13th July 2005 between the Joint Secretary, Defence; officers from IAF, MADC and GoM including Collector, Nagpur. In this meeting it was agreed that IAF shall transfer the existing 278 Hectares of land along with all their assets existing on its land to GoM/MADC in lieu of contiguous plot of 400 Hectares to be given to IAF by MADC.
Note: Out of 278 Hectares of land of IFA area spread across 5 different pockets,117 hectares of land belongs to AAI but given on lease to IFA by AAI.
Approval from Ministry of Commerce, Govt. of India for setting up MIHAN-SEZ at Nagpur:
• Meeting and presentation have been held regarding MIHAN-SEZ project in the presence of Ministry of Commerce, Govt. of India officials. Correspondences have been also exchanged at various levels.
• On 21.6.2005 the application of MADC, for in principals approval for setting up of MIHAN-SEZ at Nagpur has been approved by the Board of Approval held under the Chairmanship of Shri. Gopal K. Pillai, Additional Secretary, Department of Commerce, government of India.
• On 06.11.2006, Ministry of Commerce, Government of India has accorded “Formal Approval” for the MIHAN SEZ spread across 2086 Hectares, MADC has already submitted its proposal for getting the Notification for 1511 Hectares as Phase I Notification from the said area.
